How to Cultivate

A step-by-step masterclass to achieving explosive oyster mushroom harvests with our lab-grade spawn.

01

Step 01

Substrate Preparation

  • Start with a high-quality substrate like straw, sugarcane bagasse, or sawdust.
  • Chop the material into small pieces (2-4 inches).
  • Pasteurize the substrate by soaking it in hot water (65-80°C) for 1-2 hours to kill contaminants.
  • Drain the substrate until it's moist but not dripping wet. Squeeze a handful – only a few drops of water should come out.
02

Step 02

Spawning (Mixing)

  • Once the substrate is cool, you're ready to spawn. Work in a clean area to avoid contamination.
  • Break up the Smart Mushroom Farming spawn inside the bag until it's loose.
  • Mix the spawn thoroughly with your prepared substrate. A good ratio is 5-10% spawn to substrate weight.
  • Pack the mixture firmly into cultivation bags.
03

Step 03

Incubation Phase

  • Place your spawn bags in a dark, clean room with a temperature between 22-26°C.
  • Mycelium (the white, root-like network) will start to cover the substrate. This is called the 'spawn run'.
  • The spawn run takes about 15-20 days. The bag should be almost completely white when it's ready.
  • No light or fresh air is needed during this phase.

Step 04

Fruiting & Harvest

  • When the block is fully colonized, move it to the fruiting room.
  • Cut small 'X' shapes on the bag to allow mushrooms to grow out.
  • Fruiting conditions: High humidity (85-95%), fresh air, and some indirect light.
  • Tiny mushroom 'pins' appear in 3-5 days. Harvest by twisting the cluster off at the base in another 4-5 days.
